Wind Mitigation and 4-Point Inspection

These are two different inspections that get bundled together because carriers frequently request both at renewal. They document different things.

Wind mitigation

Documents construction features used in rating: roof covering compliance, deck attachment, roof-to-wall connections, roof geometry, secondary water barrier and opening protection.

4-point inspection

Documents the condition and age of four systems — roof, electrical, plumbing and HVAC — and is typically requested on older homes at binding or renewal.

Sequence matters

On an older roof, we recommend a licensed roof and attic inspection before either form is ordered. If the roof does not meet current requirements, the paperwork will record that, and it is better to know beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Do you perform these inspections?

The wind mitigation and 4-point inspections themselves are performed by qualified third-party inspectors. We handle the roof and attic inspection and coordinate from there.
